PANTOMEX IV contains the active substance pantoprazole. PANTOMEX is a ‘selective proton H-pump inhibitor’, a medicine that lowers the amount of acid your stomach produces. It is a preparation intended to treat gastric and intestinal pathologies linked to acidity. This preparation is injected into the vein and you will only be prescribed it if your doctor feels that pantoprazole injections are more appropriate for you at that time than pantoprazole tablets. The tablets will replace the injections as soon as your doctor deems it appropriate.
PANTOMEX IV is used to treat:
- gastroesophageal reflux esophagitis, an inflammation of the esophagus accompanied by the regurgitation of stomach acid.
- gastric and duodenal ulcers; Upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions producing excess stomach acid.
