TAZOJECT-P 4.5g IV contains piperacillin and tazobactam, which belong to the group of medicines known respectively as penicillins (broad-spectrum antibiotics) and beta-lactamase inhibitors. Piperacillin can kill many types of bacteria. Tazobactam may prevent some resistant bacteria from surviving the effects of piperacillin. This means that when piperacillin and tazobactam are given together, a greater variety of bacteria are killed.
- TAZOJECT-P IV 4.5g is used in adults and adolescents to treat bacterial infections such as those affecting the lower respiratory tract (lungs), urinary tract (kidneys and bladder), abdomen, skin or blood.
- TAZOJECT-P IV 4.5g can be used to treat bacterial infections in patients with low white blood cell count (reduced resistance to infection).
- TAZOJECT-P IV 4.5g is used in children aged 2 to 12 years to treat infections of the abdomen, such as appendicitis, peritonitis (infection of the fluid and membranes of the abdominal organs), and infections of the gallbladder biliary.
- In certain serious infections, your doctor may consider using TAZOJECT-P 4.5g in combination with other antibiotics.
