ONDAJECT *

ONDAJECT 4mg/2ml.
Ondansetron 2 mg/ml Solution for injection IV-IM.

Ondaject contains a medicine called Ondansetron. It belongs to a class of drugs called “antiemetics”. Ondansetron is a potent and highly selective 5HT3 serotonin receptor antagonist. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can cause the release of serotonin (5HT) in the small intestine. This release causes a vomiting reflex by activation of the 5HT3 receptors of the vagus nerve afferents. Ondansetron blocks the triggering of this reflex.

Ondaject is used for:

  • prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy (in adults and children aged 6 months and older) or cancer radiation therapy (in adults only)
  • prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting which may occur after an operation (in adults and children aged 1 month and over).
  • treatment of vomiting that is severe or refractory to other antiemetics
